Getting alerts from an offline node

Hi, Dave. I am still seeing phantom activity with the 1.08.1a version. This time it is with an offsite node that went offline briefly on Friday due to a power failure. On the node for the file server at that site registered a couple intervals of false activity. I've attached a screenshot of the graph. The green spaces in the red line are graphed at 0.1ms when you zoom in.

Ok right let's try again - can you install 1.08.2a and see what happens? This checks just about everything to try and ensure the reply is geniune.

If that doesn't crack it then I'll send you a custom script to run which will record all the incoming and outgoing traffic from the test I can have a look at.

Hi,

Not sure how you're getting on with this (or even if you've dumped it totally after your boot problems!) but I have spent the last few weeks playing with ICMP code off and on.

This weekend I wrote a standalone ping system (ppPing - http://www.purplepixie.org/phpping/) which should offer must more robust functionality for example missing out-of-sequence, mis-identified or ICMP errors.

I rather hope this will one and for all resolve any ICMP issues (but that is probably wishful thinking).

Anyway - 1.09.0a now uses ppping in place of the old internal ICMP functionality and is probably worth a shot at trying.
